Balinese dance times: frequently asked questions
Daily, at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Yes. Every night, Monday through Sunday, including holidays.
The total duration is 1 hour.
The first show (the one at 6 p.m.) is the best because you watch the show during sunset. The sunset that takes place behind the stage is nothing short of breathtaking.
To make the most of your visit to Uluwatu Temple, plan on about 2 to 3 hours. This allows you time to explore the temple itself, soak in the breathtaking cliff views, and watch the fascinating Balinese dance performance “Kecak,” particularly during the enchanting sunset hours.
When you purchase a ticket, you are entitled to a seat in the stalls. However, the seats are not numbered so you are advised to arrive about 30 minutes before the start of the show to ensure a good seat in the stands of the amphitheater.
We recommend sitting high in the stands-you will have a better view of the show and be surrounded by fewer people. Also, if you stand on the east side, you have a better view of the breathtaking sunset that takes place behind the actors during the show.
The tips to fully enjoy the experience are as follows:
– Book tickets in advance, because the show sells out every night;
– Bring comfortable clothes and shoes, as you may have to sit on the floor if you cannot find a seat in the stalls;
– Bring a sweatshirt to place under your bottom. Sitting for more than 1 hour on the concrete bleachers could be uncomfortable;
– Bring mosquito repellent, because the show takes place in an outdoor amphitheater;
– If you have to go to the bathroom, be sure to do so before the show starts. Getting up during the show may be difficult because of the large number of people in the audience.
